Twitter Allowed Israel's Deadname To Trend In Violation Of Its Own Hateful Conduct Policy.
The country's deadname was listed under the site's trending tab for at least 45 minutes.

"Efforts by German authorities to clamp down on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign took a sinister turn recently after a Jewish-German singer and daughter of a Holocaust survivor was warned that a concert in which she is scheduled to perform would be cancelled if she made any remarks in support of BDS."

"In the order that seems to be emerging, social bonds are construed as a matter of taste and choice rather than of obligation, making communities appear as voluntary associations from which one can resign if they require excessive self-denial, rather than as ‘communities of fate’ with which one either rises or goes under."

To be born and raised in a community is not to have a choice: the world is what it is. We can go on to try to change the order of that world (which in fact is changing always), but "intentional" communities do more than that; they're founded in self-description, denying not only outside interference but outside interpretation, demanding acknowledgement for a world of their own making. At the lowest level it's simple fascism. "Israeli" is more of an invention than "Palestinian",  if less so than "Aryan", but the opinions of outsiders in both cases are claimed to mean nothing.

Click through the links and maybe you'll learn something.

I have sympathy for Page's self-hatred; as an adult you have the right to do to your own body what you feel you need to do. But double mastectomies for healthy 13 year olds is not something to be glib about. And contra Glamour's Woman of The Year for 2015, the hardest part about being a woman is putting up with men who demand sex, and then want to control the result

“I am for a woman’s right to choose,” Jenner responded before trying to have it both ways. “I am also for a state having the ability to make their own laws. So I support Texas in that decision, that’s their decision.

Freedom of speech means the ability to mock. And more importantly, it means the acknowledgement of historical fact. Elliot was born Ellen, and Palestine was conquered by Europeans.

I now have a copy of Herzl's diaries. I won't have to rely on others' quotes.

I'm not cynical enough. I admit I was surprised by the number of liberals and self-described leftists praising twitter for banning people for stating facts.
Joseph Raz was Joseph Zaltsman. David Ben-Gurion was David Grün; Ariel Sharon was the son of Shmuel Scheinerman; Amiri Baraka was LeRoi Jones; Uri Avnery was Helmut Ostermann; Louis Farrakhan was Louis Eugene Wolcott; Malcolm X was Malcolm Little; Netanyahu was Mileikowsky; Muhammad Ali was Cassius Clay; Martin David (Meir) Kahane passed, as "Michael King"; Mark Regev was Mark Freiberg.

And, again, I was banned from twitter for throwing Ben Shapiro's bigotry back in his face.
